Takeaways from committee meeting 1

  1. Invisible architecture? Distracts away from
  2. ABOUT CNC construction Customization is now affordable-
  3. Omar: Why is it important to make a tool vs create the architecture- Can this project help make the residents more sensitive to sustainability?
  4. Omar: Why this site- Because i have access to the site- and its a live project, SUS: This is a universal solution but the thesis is an example site
  5. Preface that this thesis is focusing on individual houses vs high density housing
  6. Not addressing housing as a whole- just this one approach
  7. Tools for designers? VS Tools for all people?
  8. SHANE: Who are these tools for? Its unclear – Arn’t there already tools to do this.
  9. SUS, OMAR: Mention where the data is coming from, Make it clear what data is available and how it translates to usable data
  10. SUS: You could argue that this is for designers, not people- optional for home owners to do some first drafts
  11. SUS: Mark out tools that I have written VS what is already existing
  12. SHANE: Its a lot of work- its a complex proposal for the thesis timeline. What is the output of the thesis simplified
  13. OMAR: What are you fabricating for this thesis?
  14. SUS, OMAR, SHANE: In the beginning- mention that this is based on the wiki house, that is a static model- onto which you are adding sustainable adaptation components, modified for cnc on site.
  15. SUS: How many wikihouses have been built,
  16. OMAR: Is there a way to make an online interface for home owners and designers to access all this data – perhaps that is the FUTURES section.
  17. SUS: It needs to be clear if there are any models similar to this,
  18. OMAR: Storyboard steps of how the same house changes as it responds to data.
  19. SUS: Build up on the same image- to simplify the presentation.
